Katz Radio: Radio Delivers for Fast Food Joints

Data from a Katz Radio survey of consumers who eat fast food from quick service restaurants (QSRs) at least once a week, are highly responsive to radio messaging. Katz says its study indicates that “radio is an ideal platform for interest among receptive and responsive fast food consumers. It plays a foundationalimg role in the decision-making journey, often sparking the craving before any digital ad or social scroll can. In fact, the survey shows a measurable lift in intent: consumers targeted by radio campaigns were 4% and 7% more likely to visit, reinforcing radio’s power to drive foot traffic.” Further, the study shows that “89% reported making last-minute meal decisions while in the car—right in radio’s sweet spot. Additionally, 84% believe it’s smart for fast food restaurants to use radio advertising to inform customers about menu items and deals. And notably, 82% admitted that simply hearing ads about food can make them feel hungry, highlighting radio’s unique ability to trigger cravings and drive immediate action.” Read more here.

Katz Radio: New Data on Marketer Misperceptions

Katz Radio presents more data that supports the notion that radio’s effectiveness is misperceived by marketing professionals. The report cites data from Nielsen’s Global Annual Marketing Survey that askedimg marketers about perceived media effectiveness in which radio came in last place, behind all measured traditional and digital media types. According to Nielsen’s global ROI benchmarks, radio delivers the second highest return for advertisers, second only to social media. Nielsen’s ROI benchmarks show radio delivers higher returns for advertisers than all other other traditional media. While radio is perceived to be less effective than digital media, it delivers an ROI +30% higher than video and display, and +70% higher than search and CTV. See more about the study here.

Katz: Radio Ad-Influenced Consumers Are Valuable

Katz Radio publishes an insight piece based on data from Nielsen Scarborough looking at the action taken by consumers of various measured advertising types. Katz’s analysis concludes that “two-thirds of consumers say they have taken action as a result of an ad in the past three months. One in 4 ofimg those consumers report having taken an action based on radio ads, in particular. Such actions can be recommending something to others, posting or following on social media, visiting a website, going to a retail location, or actually making a purchase. While we do not know which advertisers’ messaging they responded to, we do know that these radio-influenced consumers are highly engaged across categories, making them advantageous to brands – and more valuable than ad-influenced adults in general. Radio-influenced consumers are more likely to be spending money on sports betting, vacations, cars, movies, and retail than the average adult, and even more than other ad-influenced adults.” See the Katz piece here.
