KXNO, Des Moines Unveils New Lineup

iHeartMedia’s sports talk KXNO, Des Moines is debuting its new program lineup after the departure of a number of local hosts over the past six months or so. Last year, the “Murph and Andy Show” starring Keith Murphy and Andy Fales exited for a podcast initiative. Also exiting were Ross Peterson in late 2024 andimg morning drive personality Travis Justice in January of this year. New in morning drive are Heather Burnside (who moves from the PM drive show) and Alec Busse hosting “The 1st Quarter.” Ken Miller and Trent Condon continue in the 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm slot, and program director and personality Sean Roberts partners with Lucas Strain for the afternoon drive “Off the Bench” show. Overtime Iowa – a “best of the day” program – airs from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Former Des Moines Sports Radio Hosts Launch Streaming Show

Sports talk radio personalities Ross Peterson and Travis Justice exited iHeartMedia’s sports talk KXNO, Des Moines on November 4 of 2024 as the company was making staff cuts across the country. But the twoimg decided they didn’t want to call it quits and began formulating a plan to take their talents to the digital realm. According to a report in the Des Moines Register, they are launching the streaming program “The Rush” today (1/27). The 6:00 am to 8:00 am show streams live on YouTube, X/Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms five days per week. The duo survived a round of layoffs in 2020 after their program was canceled but listener blowback caused management to bring them back. Read the Register story here.

iHeartMedia Debuts Iowa Sports Radio Network

iHeartMedia Iowa announces the debut of the Iowa Sports Radio Network that will broadcast statewide across five radio stations originating from flagship KXNO-FM, Des Moines. It will also air on KMNS-AM, Siouxim City; KOSY-FM, Cedar Rapids; KXIC-AM, Iowa City; and WFXN-AM, Quad Cities. The company says programming will highlight sports from University of Iowa, Iowa State University, various high schools and other local sports topics. The program lineup is: “The Morning Rush with Travis Justice and Ross Peterson” from 6:00 am to 8:00 am; FOX Sports Radio’s Dan Patrick from 8:00 am to 11:00 am; FSR’s “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon; “Miller and Condon” from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm; and “The Drive with Heather and Sean” from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Peter Thiele Exits iHeartMedia Des Moines

Programming pro Peter Thiele exits his position as director of spoken word programming at iHeartMedia’sim Des Moines cluster that includes news/talk WHO and sports talk KXNO. Thiele joined the Des Moines operations in January of this year. He can be reached at 646-926-6581.
