Salem Media Group says its news/talk KTZK, Sacramento “1380 The Answer” help bring the crowd pictured above to the California State Capitol Building to support the protest against AB 495 organized by Calvary Chapel Chino Hills pastor Jack Hibbs yesterday (8/19). Salem Radio Network VP/news & talk programming Tom Tradup says the rally was “the latest example of how talk radio’s one-on-one relationship with listeners can help promote citizen action when lawmakers endanger the rights of parents and children in California or anywhere else across America.” The bill was subsequently returned to committee pending further study.

SRN Launches Texas Disaster Relief Effort

Salem Radio Network is partnering with international non-profit relief agency Food for the Poor to rush emergency relief kits to flood-ravaged Texas. SRN talk hosts Mike Gallagher, Chris Stigall, Hugh Hewitt,img and Larry Elder are supporting this campaign on their programs. SRN vice president/news & talk programming Tom Tradup says Food for the Poor’s “decades of providing disaster relief throughout our hemisphere which – in coordination with trusted partners in San Antonio – will assure swift, professional response to communities affected by Central Texas flooding.”

Salem Host Dennis Prager’s Return to Air Delayed

Salem Media Group issues a statement saying Salem Radio Network host Dennis Prager will be delayed in his return to the airwaves, due to a setback in his recovery from a spinal cord injury. The company had been hopeful Prager would be ready to start hosting an hour of content by June. SDRN says that in the meantime, it will continue airing the Jack Posobiec show in the 2:00 pm ET hour. Salem says, “Jack has done a fabulous job there for months. SRN transitioned Charlie Kirk into the Dennis Prager hours of 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm ET on March 31, one month ago. While it is nearly impossible to replace an icon like Dennis, our affiliates have made that transition work. Listeners love the Charlie Kirk show, while at the same time are missing Dennis. We will continue to keep watching the recovery for Dennis and pray for his improvement.”

SRN Offers Special Show on First 100 Days of Trump Administration

Salem Radio Network is producing a one-hour special show for affiliates on the first 100 days of the Trumpimg administration that will air on Tuesday, April 29. It will take the place of the third hour of the Larry Elder show at 8:00 pm ET. “The 100 Days of Trump” is being hosted by Larry Elder with co-host Chris Stigall – host of SRN’s morning show – as the two will interview White House officials, cabinet members, members of congress, plus other Salem hosts.

Charlie Kirk Engaging with Students on College Campuses

Salem Radio Network nationally syndicated talk host Charlie Kirk is visiting college campuses to engage with students, specifically students who disagree with him. According to KIVI-TV, Boise, the founder of Turning Point USA is on “The American Comeback” tour and was at the campus of Boise State University yesterday (4/15). On the tour, Kirk talks with students who disagree with him under a pop-up tent with the words, “Prove Me Wrong,” emblazoned along its top. Kirk will visit Washington State University in Pullman, Washington tomorrow (4/17). Kirk is pictured above at the event on the Boise State campus.

Hugh Hewitt Joins FOX News as Contributor

Salem Radio Network nationally syndicated talk host Hugh Hewitt joins FOX News as a contributor.img Hewitt announced the news on Friday and made his first appearance on FOX News Channel on “Special Report With Bret Baier.” In this role, Hewitt will appear across all FOX News Media platforms. In addition to his radio work for Salem, Hewitt was also most recently a columnist with the Washington Post, a role he resigned from last November.

Mike Gallagher Posts Updates from Plane Trapped on Montgomery Tarmac

Salem Radio Network talk host Mike Gallagher was a passenger on one of the two Delta flights from Mexico that were diverted to Montgomery, Alabama due to severe weather in their destination city of Atlanta. By law, passengers must go through customs and since Montgomery is not an international airportimg there are no customs agents there and the passengers were forced to remain on the planes for more than six-and-a-half hours. The Daily Mail reported the story and included some of Gallagher’s social media posts that he made throughout the night, including this one: “After 12 hours at the overwhelmed Montgomery, Alabama airport – 7 hours trapped on the plane on the tarmac, 5 hours stuck in a cordoned-off area of the airport – they are now boarding people 10 at a time. They are checking off names by pen, one by one. So hey, 16 hours after our original departure, there’s hope! I’m thinking it will take at least an hour to board.” See the Daily Mail story here.

SRN Moves Charlie Kirk to Dennis Prager’s Affiliates

Salem Media Group’s Salem Radio Network is putting host Charlie Kirk onto the Dennis Prager affiliate stations, effective March 31. This move comes as the result of Prager suffering a debilitating injury lastimg November after a fall in his home in which he suffered a spinal cord injury. Prager is going through extensive rehabilitation. Charlie Kirk has been hosting his show live in the same 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm ET daypart as Prager since October of 2020 and SRN says this will be an easy transition for most stations. Prager and imgSalem have agreed to his return for one hour a day, airing 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm ET, starting Tuesday, June 3. Salem SVP of spoken word Phil Boyce says, “Dennis may have some physical limitations at the moment, but his wit, wisdom, insights and passion are as strong and as clear as ever and we are delighted at his spirit and resolve to return to his audience. We want Dennis to remain a part of the Salem family and want his millions of loyal fans to continue to hear his voice. Affiliates of Charlie will continue to get the Kirk show with no interruption, and affiliates of Dennis will soon get Charlie Kirk as a strong and able replacement.”

Audacy raises more than $3.9 million for the Jimmy Fund, which supports adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston during the 22nd “WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon.” Audacy says that since 2002, the WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon has raised over $73 million to improve the lives of cancer patients everywhere.

FOX News Digital finished July as the top news brand with multiplatform minutes and views, according to data from Comscore. FOX News Digital closed out the month reaching 3.9 billion total multiplatform minutes, 1.9 billion total multiplatform views, and 119 million total digital multiplatform unique visitors.

Salem Radio Network is reporting from the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this week. Larry Elder Returns to Salem Media Group

Salem Media Group announces that Larry Elder is rejoining the Salem Radio Network, Salem News Channel and Salem Podcast Network. Elder will return to hosting the 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm ET program that he anchored before exiting the company in April of 2022. He bumps Brandon Tatum from his position as theim 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm host. Tatum filled in for Elder during his run for governor of California in 2021 and subsequently assumed the role full time. Elder joined the 2024 Republican presidential primary race but dropped out last fall and threw his support behind Donald Trump. Since then, he’s been hosting his podcast, “Larry Elder – We’ve Got a Country to Save.” He’ll continue the podcast with Salem handling sales and marketing for the it. Salem SVP of spoken word Phil Boyce says, “Larry is one of a rare breed who actually grew in popularity and influence AFTER he departed the radio. Now we get to hear his sage words of wisdom daily on radio stations across the country, on Salem News Channel, and the Salem Podcast Network.”

Lou Dobb Dies at 78

Television and radio personality Lou Dobbs passed away on Thursday (7/18) at the age of 78. The cause of death isn’t clear, but Dobbs had been missing from his iHeartMedia podcast “The Great America Show” for aim few weeks. Dobbs was part of the debut of CNN in 1980, serving as vice president and host of the “Moneyline” program. He joined FOX Business in 2011 and served there until exiting in 2021 after being named in the Smartmatic defamation suit. During his career, Dobbs also hosted a talk radio show syndicated by United Stations Radio Networks from 2008 through 2012. He also hosted the “Lou Dobbs Financial Report” syndicated by Salem Radio Network. The program “Lou Dobbs Tonight” won an Emmy in 2004, and Dobbs won a George Foster Peabody Award for his coverage of the 1987 stock market crash.

Salem Announces Presidential Debate Coverage

Salem Media Group announces that its Salem Radio Network and Salem News Channel are presenting aim two-hour special prior to the June 27th presidential debate from Atlanta. From 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Salem talk hosts Mike Gallagher, Dr. Sebastian Gorka, and Hugh Hewitt will “provide scene-setting commentary and analysis” and will interact with a live Atlanta audience. (The debate itself will have no in-studio audience and CNN is not giving Salem permission to broadcast the actual debate.) CRN Digital Announces Satellite Syndication Expansion

CRN Digital Talk Radio announces a new partnership with Salem Radio Network and Westwood One to expand its satellite radio syndication services and distribution. CRN president and CEO Michael Horn states, “The latest branch in the business will allow CRN to provide satellite time to those independentim shows looking for syndication opportunities. With all the changes in our industry it was the natural progression to provide a full range of services to our clients and work with our partner Salem Radio Network. CRN’s new syndication effort will use the Westwood One Wegener system. CRN says this project came to fruition with the help of radio industry affiliate relations pro Jon Patch, who comments, “I’m proud to be working with Mike and the CRN team to offer the newest technology from Westwood One and Wegener.
